Every day, teachers across our academies inspire, support and guide the next generation.

We asked some of our fantastic teachers to reflect on what inspired them to become a teacher, what they enjoy most about their job and what advice they would give to anyone thinking of a career in teaching.

Jay Radford-Stewart, Teacher and Music Lead

“I knew I wanted to work with children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and help shape their futures. I’m driven by the belief that every child deserves a fair shot — and a teacher who believes in them.

For me, it’s all about relationships. Building trust, showing up consistently, and being that reliable presence in their lives. I want every child to feel safe, seen, and supported.”

Sarah Trivigno, Teacher and SENDCo

“I’m a career changer who has always been passionate about the idea of becoming a teacher. After working as a bank manager, I realised that while the role was professionally rewarding in some respects, it didn’t provide the sense of purpose or impact I was looking for.

I wanted to pursue a career where I could make a real difference in people’s lives, which led me to teaching.

As a teacher, I want to make a lasting, positive impact on the children’s lives—both academically and personally. I want them to feel safe, listened to, inspired and ready to enter the next stage of life beyond school.”

Julia Wilcox – Teacher

“My favourite thing about teaching at my school is the warm and friendly environment around us. It is clear to me that every child is valued by every staff member, and we challenge our pupils to succeed for themselves.

I hope that every pupil leaves the classroom knowing that someone believes in them and wants the best for their future.”
